Great quality CD, BUT...

This is mostly a 'Portuguese from Portugal' CD. Even most of the 'Brazilian' songs had a funny accent. I bought this to help encourage Brazilian Portuguese to my 2 year old during car rides, and it doesn't cut it. On the up side, great musical beats and good quality. I wouldn't recommend it though if you are from Brazil.

What a great find! I had been looking for Portuguese music (ideally European Portuguese) for my child for a while, and was thrilled to find this. The CD contains classic Portuguese children's songs along with a book that contains the lyrics and interesting historical facts about each song and its meaning. Some of the songs are sung with a Brazilian accent and others with a European Portuguese accent (which is so hard to find!). My child and I love to sing and dance to the music and the grandparents love remembering old songs from their childhood.

KEITH H. BLACK, PhD, CAIA, is a Managing Director at the CAIA Association, overseeing curriculum and exam development for the Association. About the Author
James Buckley, Jr. has written about sports for more than 15 years, including a stint as the editorial projects manager for Sports Illustrated. Today, he is the editorial director of the Shoreline Publishing Group, a book, magazine, and Web site editorial services company. Buckley also is the author of nearly 20 sports books for children, including DK's Eyewitness Baseball and four baseball-themed Dorling Kindersley Readers. He lives in Santa Barbara with his wife Patty and son Conor, a future Major League superstar.

If you have a budding baseball fan in your household, this is one book that you may have difficulty passing up. This is a book where you're going to find everything you'll ever want to know about the game from its history to a close up look at the insides of a baseball. Well, perhaps that is a bit of seventh inning stretch, but you get the idea. If you've seen the earlier edition of the DK baseball book, you'll understand what you are getting into only this one has an extra bonus. You will also be getting a large dollop of clip art and a fold-out wall chart. So, what exactly will you find in this book? Batter up for a look at . . .

Great Book on Baseball

I would highly recommend the book Baseball from the Eyewitness series. I have been a fan of baseball and played since I was little and it contained countless facts I'd never heard before. For example, "baseball started out during the revolutionary war and was known as Town Ball". It has tons of photographs with great captions to describe them. It includes photos of antiques from baseball's beginning through more modern pictures of players and fields. I especially enjoyed the explaination about the field and the displays describing every part of a playing field. I would reccomend strongly that you read this book if you want knowledge about the history and players of our great American pasttime...baseball.

It is a very complete book with lots of information, the visual design is also very good and the reading is exciting because you discover a whole new world about this amazing sport that is baseball.
