The volume provides a thorough historical overview of the theoretical and clinical approaches to the problem of schizophrenia, including the views of leading contemporary clinicians on the topic. In general, the major clinical controversies have been regarded as issues of whether to focus on past, present or future; reality or fantasy; affects; exploration or relationship; whether the therapist should be active or passive; and how to handle regression. The authors argue that these are the wrong issues. They say that the task of therapy is to untangle the past from the present to make the future conceivable. Reality and fantasy are intertwined and must both be dealt with. Affects are central to all therapy, and emphasis on anger, despair, loneliness, terror, and shame are all necessary, as is the clarification of affect, and the acceptance of positive affect. Activity versus passivity is again in the wrong question; the right one is what action is helpful, when it is helpful, and when is not doing anything helpful? Regression is inevitable; should one accept it fully or try to limit it? This has no general answer other than do what is necessary (i.e., unavoidable) or most helpful to a particular patient at a particular time.

About the Author
Nathan Ida is the Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Akron. The strength of EM knowledge

Amazing. I am taking Dr. Ida's electromagnetics courses and this book is physically the largest and heaviest book I have encountered in my life. It can be used as a shield in times of danger and once you have read every word, you acquire the power to batter enemies with electromagnetic waves. I am still training but as of now I can propagate plane waves in one dimension. One day I am sure you will be riding the electromagnetic waves as well. Ta ta!

This isn't a typical MC book because the MC is the main opposing force in this book. But that's a minor issue because the story at large was freaking amazing. The basic gist is this: the town of Painted Rock in the deserts of Nevada has been terrorized by the Bleeding Angels MC, who force all the young men to either get out of town or join them. They have a solid control over every part of life in Painted Rock and do as they please to whomever they please. Aimee's father tried to stop them when the club was still coming up and was gunned down in the street while she watched. Years later, Aimee's best friend and crush Jake Summers is about to be conscripted and she will do whatever it takes to keep him out. This story was intense and gripping. Sophia Hampton did a wonderful job of holding back just enough detail to keep things interesting. Aimee and Jake suffer through setback after setback in this book, watch as their families and friends are caught in the cross fire, and forced into situations that they'd never imagine themselves being in. This was one of those stories where you just have to pause and say 'Wow' time and time again. There weren't a lot of twists in this story but each one ttally changes the dynamic of power that I didn't think more was ever needed.

The character work in this book was phenomenal. Ms. Hampton did a great job at making you sympathize with Aimee and Jake. There were definitely tears in my eyes when Aimee seeks out comfort by speaking to her deceased father at the very spot he was gunned down at. The love that she shared with Jake was believable and realistic, and when they were forced apart by the club, I genuinely thought that they'd lost each other forever. I really liked Aimee. She was so strong and resilient in the face of overwhelming odds and countless obstacles in her fight for justice and love. Her evolution from a victim to victor was beautifully written.

What i found most impressive about the characters was how developed all of them were. They made the town of Painted Rock come to life and I was blown away by the myriad of emotions they invoked.

This book was hot. Because of the whole conscription thing hanging over Jake's future, there was a sense of urgency and haste to the love making. It was so raw and full of passion. Both the emotional and physical sides were given equal attention and each scene bound me closer and closer to the characters.

There were a few hiccups here and there but for such a monster of a book, it was really nothing at all. For the most part, you get a GREAT narrator in Aimee and you can really settle into the text. It was very enjoyable to read.

This was an excellent book with a deep and emotionally satisfying story, wonderful characters, tight suspense, and wicked hot romance. Don't miss this one.

Don't ignore the warning about how dark this story is! I couldn't stop thinking about it even after I was finished reading. It's not that it shocks you with the darkness but more along the lines of disturbing you with it. Like with Suzie, an important side character for both Aimee and Jake. Her story is horrifying, but what made it especially gut wrenching was the stuff that we didn't see. We'd see her with bruises and track marks, but when she tries to explain it away by not saying anything, the reader is left to fill in the gaps with their own imagination and that really hammers things home. The limited POV style also heightened the dread and sense of forboding that hung over this story. But where there is darkness, thereis light, and the love story gave me something to hold on to, something to be hopeful of. It was beautifully written but more importantly, it made perfect sense within the context of the entire story. This book was phenomenal and really deserves all the praises it gets.

Sophia Hampton's book Crash really had me turning the pages because I couldnt wait to find out what happened next between Jake and Aimee, who have such a strong, complex relationship. I was addicted to Jake's bad boy personality.
